Women in Social Media

No one is more arrogant toward women, more aggressive or scornful, than the man who is anxious about his virility. ― Simone de Beauvoir

Do you know that in India, there are much fewer females (roughly just 30% of all internet users in the country) using the Internet and Social Media as compared to males? There is a 40% “digital gender gap” that is far more extreme than the global divide. We have a rather long way to go in closing this wide gender gap.  😦

It’s important for us to make the Internet and Social Media sites safe for women to use and interact, by cutting down online harassment, bullying, and changing regressive attitudes. I had to face some really formidable and unique challenges when I started this page and my blog, and will discuss them in subsequent posts, or in my book. But, of course, there are always solutions to the problems.  🙂
